Understanding and Preventing Racial Bias in Real Estate 8/20/21

Friday, August 20, 2021 (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM)

Zoom Meeting

You're Registered!
This course has been instituted as a mandatory portion of your Connecticut continuing education requirements for real estate license renewal.

The course will provide you with the racial history of what has taken place within the real estate industry - with insights into where we have been, where we are now and the work we have yet to accomplish.

You will be shown examples of actual instances where discrimination continues to take place - both intentional and unintentional. You also will hear from real estate professionals who have experienced bias and discrimination in their own real estate practice.

While we realize people of all races have experienced difficulties and hardships, this course is specifically related to the hardships experienced by persons of color due to racial discrimination.
It is our sincere hope that students will approach this course with an open mind and make a conscious effort to recognize, discourage and prevent any instances you may find of racial bias and discrimination in the real estate industry.

About Live-Virtual:

Because this is a live-virtual CE class, there are specific rules that the CT Real Estate Commission requires us/you to follow in order to receive credit
  • Join on time! Please log in a minimum of 15 minutes before class to ensure you are able to log in and have working audio/video.
  • Have your driver's license available at the beginning of class so your identity can be verified.
  • Keep your camera and audio active/remain active and engage with the class.
  • You must be present in the Zoom room for the entire session unless we are on a scheduled break.
  • These classes can be moderated for attendance purposes. Anyone taking frequent breaks, not paying attention or turning off the camera, will NOT receive credit for the class
*Remember, even though classes in person, you are still in a classroom setting and should treat it as such. If for any reason you are unable to participate (i.e.: you have to drive, take a phone call, turn your camera off, etc.), you must “leave the meeting” and you will not receive credit for the course.
